Yackel Foundation Home

 

The John P. and Eleanor R Yackel Foundation focuses its giving by funding programs that:

I. Promote peace and justice through cross-cultural education and conflict resolution.

II. Promote sustainable agriculture.

In these giving areas, the Foundation has an interest in supporting programs that:

          • Integrate the arts
          • and/or
          • Demonstrate Community Building

When selecting programs for support, the Foundation seeks applicants that:

          • Address an identified community need
          • Have clear tangible goals and outcomes
          • Offer practical solutions to community problems
          • Propose new or innovative solutions to community problems
          • Demonstrate past organizational success in achieving goals

Types of Grants

The Foundation provides grants to recognized 501 (c) (3) organizations for projects within the Guidelines. Initial grants will be given for project funding only. The Foundation does not make grants for general operating support or for endowment funds.

Capital funding may be available for projects connected to previous Foundation support only. Grants typically range from $2,500 to $15,000 with the average grant size of $6,000. Click here to see the list of 2011 grantees.

Geographic Scope

The Foundation supports programs based in Minnesota or Vermont that serve the local, national or international community.

Application Procedures

1. Letters of Intent:
Letters of intent should be postmarked by March 31.

a. Fill out the Cover Letter of Intent. Click here to download Cover Letter of Intent.
b. Introduce your organization and project. Make clear the link between your proposal and the mission and values of the Yackel Foundation. Keep your letter to one page only. Submit on the official letterhead of your organization.

2. The Yackel Foundation will reply to your letter of intent by May 1.

3. Full proposals must be postmarked by May 31. If the Yackel Foundation invites you to submit a full proposal:

Former grantees:
Organizations that have received funding from the Yackel Foundation must have submitted their interim and final outcomes report (if applicable) prior to applying for another grant. Follow the process outlined under Application Procedures.

Deadlines

Early submissions are encouraged.
Applications are reviewed and grants made prior to October 31.
